Gavin Clark

Biography

Gavin Clark, who died unexpectedly in February 2015, made a name for himself in the British Film & TV scene, but also as a soloist and as a member of groups such as Sunhouse, Clayhill and, most notably, UNKLE.

Next to his work these band, singer-songwriter Clark is known for his film and TV work. Appearing in all of British film and TV director Shane Meadows’ works, their long-lasting friendship and professional partnership also sparked Clark’s contribution to Meadows’ critically acclaimed and commercially successful film This Is England (2006). Meadows said about Clark: ‘His music elevated my early work from student tat into something resembling art’, thus describing the importance of Clark’s work for his films.

Until his decease, Clark was working on his new album, The Evangelist (2015). Still incomplete at the time of Clark’s passing, the record was finished by UNKLE-co-member James Griffiths. If featured guest appearances by Ludovico Einaudi and Warren Ellis.
